Sarah Beth Simko
Sarah Simko is eighteen years old and a recent graduate of the Utica Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology. Currently, she is a freshman student at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Hans Davidsson. Sarah began her organ studies at the age of twelve with Carol Portice, Director of Music and Organist at University Presbyterian Church in Rochester, Michigan. In 2009, she continued her studies with Dr. Jean Randall, Director of Music and Organist at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rochester, Michigan. In 2008 and 2010, Sarah was a scholarship winner of the Detroit Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She is also the recipient of the 2010 Marilyn Mason Young Musician's Scholarship from the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She has studied with Dr. Gregory D'Agostino, James David Christie, Dr. Jack Mitchener and Renee Louprette. She has performed in masterclasses with Dr. Marilyn Mason, Dr. David Wagner, and Ken Cowan.
Sarah has studied piano for seven years. She was the accompanist on piano and organ for five choirs at University Presbyterian Church, Rochester, Michigan throughout her high school career. In her role as accompanist, she has toured with the high school choir in San Francisco, California; Washington, D.C.; New York; Scotland and Ireland.
Sarah studied violin for eight years, participating in the Oakland Youth Orchestra, and her high school orchestra. In addition to being a Merit Scholar in 2010, Sarah also sat as Assistant Principal Second violin for Oakland Youth Orchestra's top tier performing group.
